Yet another revision of the XL series is the Honda XL600 which came into picture in 1984. It comes with a 589 cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder air cooled engine, compression ratio of 8.5:1. It produces a maximum power of 45 hp, almost double as that of its predecessor, with a 5 speed transmission gearbox.
The suspension and the brakes are the same as the XL series which comes with a: telescopic type front suspension and a pro-link rear suspension; front disc and rear drum brakes for effective braking. The larger fuel tank capacity of 12 liters is big enough for a road trip with a mileage of 46.2 miles per gallon. It comes with a Capacitor Discharge Ignition system which uses a 12 V electrical system and kick start.
A top speed of 100 mph and 0-60 mph in 14 seconds has won it a lot of recognition, one of the bestseller of that time.
