A classy sedan, this was manufactured by Ford Motor Company's European division, from 1968-2002. This car was introduced into Indian markets at the time, when performance was slowly being looked at, over fuel economy. The Escort has gone through several model badgings, the last one being in January 1995, sporting new front lights, bonnet, front wings, front and rear bumpers, door handle's, wing mirrors, and four different front radiator grilles. The interior was upheaved too, with a new and improved dashboard arrangement. The power came via either a 1.
3 L or the 1.4L CVH. The diesel variants saw no change in their engine configurations. Handling and ride, were fantastic, developed and revised, including suspension, from that on the previous models. The RS2000 models, highly popular among the more sporty in outlook, ceased production in June 1996.
This RS badge would not arrive until the FOCUS RS was produced in 2002. A true drivers car, which made its mark in India as well.
